Chin

ChinChin is the first Scandinavian reggae artist to be taken seriously in the Jamaican dancehall industry. During his stays in Jamaica he has been living in the little ghetto area of Portmore Garden (Rat Town) with his Jamaican click Ghetto Vibez Crew - his unique sing-jay flow and raw patois spitting lyrics have impressed many artists and producers.

In Jamaica he has recorded songs for Jamaican producer Mikie Bennet (Lines & Rhymes Music LTD.), All Acces Entertainment who has many of Jamaica´s top entertainers in their roster, made a combination with Jamaican artist Saba Tooth, the single “Keep It Burning” for Jamaican top producer/artist Goofy on the Young Blood label, the single “Baby Girl” on the Resting riddim built by Danish producer Pharfar on the upcoming Jamaican label Duncan Studios, and a combination "The 1/Nitestand?" with Danish reggae queen Natasja for Jamaican producer Stephen Grieg, Big Tings Records. Most recently Chin have done live performances in Jamaica, among other places at Don Mafia's birthday party in West More Land, and on Jamaican national TV on "Smile Jamaica" (TVJ) where he both got interviewed and did a live performance.

In Europe Chin has voiced for the european reggae institution Germaicans on the “Drs Darling”, “Pharao”, “Rodeo”, and the yet unreleased “Opium” riddims. In Denmark and Scandinavia he has toured several times, and have voiced for many Danish artists and producers over the years. Furthermore he has been nominated for this years Danish World Awards in the category “best world track of the year”, which have made him feature on two compilation CDs for World Music Denmark. In 2006 he has been touring more or less constantly in with Showstoppers Reggae Splash Tour alongside fellow reggae singers Natasja, Ms Mukupa, Mandingo, riddim band The Ragga Pack, and Universal Sound System .

Chin is half Japanese and half Danish and he started his musical career as a rapper in Danish underground rap group Critical Basis in the early nineties. Back then he was known (under the name Part B) as one of the best freestyle rappers in Denmark. After winning several underground rap battles he was the first rapper in Denmark to win the official Rapper Of The Year freestyle contest.

Being influenced by reggae music since childhood, “toasting/dee-jaying” has always been a natural option in Chin´s vocal register, but not until hooking up with Danish sound system Sky Juice in ‘94 did he really get the chance to prove his worth as a “dee-jay”. Touring all around Scandinavia with Sky Juice Sound System (which primarily consists of “Jamaican-Danes”) was like a school of dancehall to him, and it was also during this time he was given his Dee-Jay name Chin by fellow Sky Juice members.

He has opened for Jamaican dancehall and reggae stars such as: Red Rat, Mr. Vegas, Bucaneer, Sizzla, Turbulence, Culture and infamous Sly & Robbie.
He has also toured Denmark with Danish Hip Hop/R&B artists such as MC Clemens, DJ Noize, Pharfar, Shirley, Burhan G, Funk Flush, and he has done collabos with Norwegian rap group Tungt Vann, German Upliftment International, Skillbattery Sound & Ill Inspecta, Japanese Sound System 1000 Bass, Norwegian sound system Raggabalder, and various Scandinavian reggae artists and sounds such as Jogi, 59P, Ramsalt Ragga Crew, Ohoi!, Bass & Trouble, People´s Choice, Rootsman Hi-Fi & Sweet Connection just to mention a few.
