Bikstok Røgsystem

Bikstok Røgsystem is by all means the biggest newcomer act at the Danish music scene 2005.
But despite all the glitz surrounding these talented guys the truth is that they never meant all this to happen. Spawned from the underground scene surrounding Copenhagen’s No.1 reggae weekly Rub-A-Dub-Sundays at Stengade 30, they wanted to make a reggae/ragga album with a bit of hip-hop influence for themselves and their friends. Today they have been on the Danish album chart for more than a year peaking at no.1 with their debut Over Stok Og Sten (Copenhagen Records), achieved numerous awards and have a full booked tour-calender all summer!

Bikstok Røgsystem is a DJ trio consisting of Eaggerman who invented the whole idea of Bikstok; With a Jamaican dad he grew up in the reggae collective in Copenhagen Skyjuice Soundsystem, Pharfar; Denmark’s premier hip-hop, dub and reggae producer - recently awarded at Danish Music Awards as Producer Of The Year 06 and Bukki Blæs; known from the successful Danish hip hop group Malk De Kojn .

The lyrics of Bikstok Røgsystem and their vocal flow is one of the reasons, that the guys are celebrated by the music critics and the audience alike. First of all the lyrics is in Danish, and all in one it’s fun, ironic, sarcastic, political and poetic.

Bikstok played a massive season of gigs in 2005 and the 2006 calendar sees the Danish festivals are coming back for more. The music critics generally gave the concerts top ratings for the energetic performances of the guys. Roskilde Festival in the Summer 2005 had Bikstok playing in the biggest tent of the festival (Arena) and Bikstok gathered more than 25.000 people at the concert. At one point during the concert Bikstok sat down on stage and asked the audience to join them, and for the first time in the history of Roskilde Festival the whole audience was seen sitting on the ground!

The band that plays live with Bikstok at the concerts is called Riddim Force Band . They are Denmark’s no. 1 riddimband. They have played with several international reggae stars like Half Pint, Shinehead, Spectacular, Lady Saw & Jah Mason, Chucki Starr etc.
